Mirror Studies
An open call exploring sensuality and the art of mirror self-portraiture.
House of Nocturne invites artists and photographers to submit work for Mirror Studies, an online exhibition exploring the art of the mirror self-portrait.
From intimate bedroom reflections and sensual poses to experimental compositions, dramatic lighting and abstract glimpses of the human form, this exhibition celebrates the mirror as a tool for creative expression, self-representation and artistic exploration.
We are interested in work that transforms an everyday act into something visually compelling, personal or thought-provoking.
Images may explore sensuality, intimacy, vulnerability, confidence, identity or the relationship between the body, the camera and the reflected self.
We welcome a diverse range of approaches, from carefully composed fine art photography to spontaneous, raw and unconventional self-portraits.
Deadline 30th November 2026
Submit Your Work for Consideration
House of Nocturne is an independent creative space exploring contemporary, alternative and thought-provoking art. We’re interested in work that challenges convention, explores identity, plays with the human form or finds beauty in the unusual.
We welcome submissions from artists working across photography, painting, drawing, illustration, digital art, mixed media or sculpture. Whether your work is sensual, surreal, intimate, unconventional or difficult to categorise, we want to discover it.
What We’re Looking For
We’re drawn to work with a strong visual identity, a clear point of view and a sense of individuality. We value originality over trends and artistic expression over fitting a particular mould.
We’re particularly interested in work exploring the body, identity, emotion, texture, light, shadow and the beautifully unexpected. However, we don’t want to limit what art can be. If your work feels right for House of Nocturne, we encourage you to submit.
We welcome emerging and established artists alike.
